On June 26, 2015, the Supreme Court handed down a 5-4 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges that recognized a constitutional protection of gay marriage. This has resulted in a rush of same-sex couples moving to legally formalize their relationships. As with heterosexual unions, the LGBT community sometimes faces family law matters.
At the Galmiche Law Firm, we look forward to this opportunity to provide the same compassionate, nonjudgmental and personal service to the LGBT community of Metropolitan St. Louis that we have provided to their heterosexual neighbors for over thirty (30) years.
Same-sex marriage is now entitled to the same protection as a heterosexual marriage. The dissolution of a same-sex marriage may involve numerous issues, including the following:
Property division, including division of real property, pension and 401(k) Plans.
Debts, including division of martial debts.
